Donatella Spaziani

Born in Ceprano (Frosinone, Italy) January 10, 1970, she graduated in painting in 1993 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome, where she lives and works. Her research begins from drawing. Using painting, sculpture, self-timers and installations, she creates images and places in which to investigate the relationship between space and the body; the body and the object. In 2001 she won a scholarship for the Artomi, the International Residency Hudson River Valley in New York. In 2003, she was awarded the scholarship, 'La Seine', a research programme for the visual arts at the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux Arts in Paris. Between 2004 and 2006 she lived in Paris in the‘Cité Internationale des Art' thanks to the scholarship offered by the ‘International Art Encounters’ (Rome). In 2008 she participated in the 14th Quadrennial (Palazzo delle Esposizioni - Rome). In 2010 she was present at the Expo in Shanghai in the exhibition Piazze Roma (Squares in Rome), curated by Achille Bonito Oliva (MOCA Museum of Contemporary Art).
